COMMENTARY UPON MESSAGES
March 19th, 1982
"Penance, penance is what I ask you. Tell them that the Day of the Creator is close; they must try to be at the right of my chosen to take them to the Promised Land" (Our Lord)
Our Lord speaks firstly to ask for penance; as many other times, He reminds us of this essential and necessary aspect to walk through the path of sanctification; to repair our sins and other’s and- as a virtue- to repent of our guilts and abhor them. " Penance is, therefore, the conversion that goes from the heart to works and, consequently, to the entire life of any Christian"(1) John Paul II wrote, and John the Baptist shouted in the Jordan, " Let it be seen that you are serious in your conversion" ( Mt 3, 8)
The Day of the Creator is the equivalent of the New Testament’s expression " the Day of the Lord"(2) or " the great day of God, the Master of the universe" ( Rv 16, 14) or "the Day of Yahweh"(3). This day will coincide with the Trial of Nations and it will be like the individual trial every soul is submitted to after death.
Besides, we should take into account that Luz Amparo couldn’t know the deep biblical sense of the expressions used in the messages (Day of the Creator, Trial of Nations, The End of Times, Last Times, etc), which undoubtedly supports the evidence of the celestial origin of these revelations.
" Look, my daughter, can you see how small those bright points are? They look like a bulb light; those are stars where there’s an eternal life. That’s the Promised Land. Man will never be able to discover this treasure’s greatness, surrounded by such a mystery"
Our Lord shows her some bright points in the horizon of the sky and He tells her they are stars where eternal life exists. Is it human beings’ eternal life or not? Undoubtedly, it is one of the mysteries we will only understand when we reach the other life.
What is eternal life? Regarding Saint Thomas of Aquinas, who explains it wisely and deeply, as it is often done by this angelical doctor, " Eternal life consists of, firstly, joining to God; God is the prize and the end of all our works: " I am your shield; your reward will be very great! ( Gen 15, 1). At the same time, this joint consists of a perfect vision ( " At present we see dimly as in a faulty mirror, but then it shall be face to face" 1Co 13, 12) and a sublime praise. Secondly, eternal life consists of a perfect society of wishes because all the Blessed will have more than they desire and expect (…) Thirdly, eternal life consists of a complete security. Fourthly, it consists of the happy company of all the Blessed, a company that will be the most pleasant of all because it will be made up of the best of each of them"(4).
After the ecstasy, Luz Amparo explained that, when Our Blessed Lady of Sorrows appeared, the Archangel Saint Gabriel accompanied her and She was in a gleam of colours, which was perceived that day by some people at Prado Nuevo.
In the Old Testament, the Angel of the Lord ( or Yahweh) was a messenger who appeared and spoke in the name of God, as his representative; for example in chapter 16 of the Book of Genesis the terms" Yahweh" can be changed for " Angel of Yahweh" and vice versa(5). Here, as something unusual in the messages of Prado Nuevo, Our Lord talks through Archangel Saint Michael; the words’ content gives us the impression that it is Our Lord who is speaking.
This powerful Angel appears at Prado Nuevo only once more in another message; however, he is mentioned eight times in these private revelations and Luz Amparo sees him in two different occasions ( see messages, September 29th 1983; December 23rd 1984; December 25th 1984; November 1st 1986; August 1st 1987).
As a consequence of a bood curdling vision, Leon XIII wrote a short prayer, as an exorcism, so that every priest said it at the end of the Mass, which was done until the liturgic post- conciliar reform. One of its versions says,
"Archangel Saint Michael, defend us in the battle.
Be our protection against the perversity and the
cunnings of the demon. Repress him, Oh God, we
beg you. And you, Prince of the Celestial Army,
with divine power, to Hell throw Satan and the
other evil spirits, who are spread around the world
for the ruin of souls".
This event we are referring to took place in 1884 during the Thanksgiving of the Mass. Father Domenico Peccherino(6) said that suddenly, Leon XIII rose his head, fear and fright in his countenance, the colour of his face changed, he stood up and went to his private studio where he wrote this prayer; he gave it to the Secretary of the Congregation of Rites in order that he could publish it and send it to all the Catholic Church’s bishops.
John Paul II referred to this prayer when he visited the sanctuary of Saint Michael in Foggia, in May 24th 1987, and he reminded us that the fight between the demon and Saint Michael is still going on nowadays(7). Therefore, let us invoke this powerful Archangel to defeat Satan’s traps.
Finally, let us join to Our Pope’s words; he said in one of his catechesis, " The Christian, calling the Father with the spirit of Jesus and invoking his kingdom, shouts with the strength of faith: don’t let us fall into temptation, deliver us from evil, from the Devil. Oh Lord, don’t let us yield to infidelity, being seduced by whom has been unfaithful from the beginning"(8).
