COMMENTARY

( CONTINUATION)

To continue with the summary of the events related to Prado Nuevo and the Work born in this place of graces and blessings, we will reflect here only the most significant ones:

May 13^th , 1988: The Charitable Organization "Our Lady of Sorrows" was established in May 13th 1988. In April 2^nd 1989 it was recognized as non-profit and charitable Entity of General Interest by the Spanish "Ministerio de Trabajo y Asuntos Sociales", to which it gives accounts yearly. Its aim is attending the needy people non- profitably. The Foundation develops its work thanks to bequests, inheritances, contributions of the members of Public Association of the Faithful "Repairers of Our Lady of Sorrows, as well as through donations of other people.

January 20^th, 1990: the first Family Community is created spontaneously to carry out what the celestial messages Luz Amparo receives ask us to do: “... give all your goods away and put them all to the service of the community, as the first Christians did. Nothing should be yours; yours should be everybody’s (...). Those who want to be disciples of Christ have to be open-handed, humble and humiliated" (The Virgin, 7-X—89).

July 4^th, 1990: the works of the highway that divided Prado Nuevo into two parts started; they ended in September 1^st, 1992 and the inauguration took place three days later, in September 4^th, 1992. The route of this new highway would lead to a very well- planned campaign against the defenders of Our Lady and her messages. The new way led to a reassessment of the lands, which had been rustic before till that moment; now they could be built-up. The faithful followers of the Apparitions of the Virgin at Prado Nuevo had to face one of the fiercest attacks of the history of these extraordinary events.

October 1992, night from the 4^th to 5^th: the ash tree of the apparition is poured out with kerosene and set on fire. Fortunately, the firemen, next to that place, put it out shortly after it began to burn. The tree did not suffer a serious damage. As a result of this, the devoutee gathered in groups to keep watch of Prado Nuevo to avoid new destructive acts.

May 14^th, 1993: Cardinal Archbishop D. Angel Suquía established canonically “The Association of the Repairers “Love, Union and Peace” as a Private Association of the Church; thus, the first ecclesiastic institution that is a fruit of Prado Nuevo was born. Its aim is attending the needy people in the houses opened for this purpose.

August 27^th1993: some days before this date, sewage waters were deviated and filtered to the spring at Prado Nuevo. Then, some chemists were asked to analyze the water, which was consequently declared contaminated. Immediately, the Mayor published an edict stating the contamination of the water from the spring. Afterwards, when the reason for the contamination was found out, the problem was solved as soon as it was possible.

December 7^th 1993: The International Association "Amigos de Prado Nuevo"was created to attend to the pilgrims coming to Prado Nuevo and to defend the legitimate interests of this place. It is a social and religious movement registered in the Spanish “Ministerio del Interior”.

December 27^th, 1993: Cardinal D. Angel Suquía visited The Foundation “ Our Lady of Sorrows” at Carlos III Street, in El Escorial, for more than five hours. Together with two companions from the bishopric, he celebrated a Mass in the chapel of the residence. This support from the hierarchy left no doubt.

February of 1994: on February 3^rd, the town council prohibited the entrance to Prado Nuevo. On February 9^th, the underpass leading to the point of meeting of the pilgrims of Prado Nuevo was closed by policemen. On February 10^th , members of the local police withdraw the small chapel with the image of the Virgin that was in the ash tree. At least, twelve of these little chapels were removed.

June 14^th, 1994: It is a transcendental date in the History of the Work of Prado Nuevo. Cardinal D. Angel Suquía and Goicoechea approves in documents of the Archbishopric, the Public Association of Faithful " Repairers of Our Lady of Sorrows " (Repairing Sisters, Family Community and Vocational Community), and The Autonomous Pious Foundation "Our Lady of Sorrows. Both were founded by Luz Amparo Cuevas.

This Public Association of Faithful the purpose of is "the sanctification of its members by living in community, as much as possible, as the first Christians did, under the motto LOVE, UNION AND PEACE. Because of this, they will have special interest in the service to the poor and needy, seeing Christ The Redeemer in them, in intimate relation with the Virgin, especially under the name " Our Lady of Sorrows", and always willing to cooperate with the Catholic Church in Its activities" (Constitutions, art. 3º).
